Chi scrive Wikipedia?

Questo post di Aaron Swartz sfata un mito propagato dallo stesso Jimbo Wales: che Wikipedia sia scritta da un ristretto numero di persone. In realtà pare che un ristretto numero di persone si dedichi assiduamente alla manutenzione di Wikipedia, mentre che i contributi testuali importanti vengano da un grandissimo numero di persone, ognuna esperta nel suo particolare campo. Quote of note:

"everyone has a bunch of obscure things that, for one reason or another, they've come to know well. So they share them, clicking the edit link and adding a paragraph or two to Wikipedia. At the same time, a small number of people have become particularly involved in Wikipedia itself, learning its policies and special syntax, and spending their time tweaking the contributions of everybody else."

Mi sembrano osservazioni corrette e gravide di conseguenze: se wikipedia vuole crescere, deve rendere più facile e gratificante il contributo occasionale.
